How to Pray!

Lord, Teach Us to Pray!

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation” -Luke 11:2-4

Prayer is simply talking with God—honestly, humbly, and from the heart. It’s not about using perfect words or following a script, but about drawing near to our Father who listens and responds with love. Begin by praising Him for who He is, then share your needs, confess your sins, and thank Him for His grace. Ask for His guidance, strength, and protection each day. Just as Jesus taught in the Lord’s Prayer, prayer is about aligning our hearts with God’s will and trusting Him fully. The more we pray, the deeper our relationship with Him grows.

“Give me souls, O God, or I die!” ,

(This was his heart-cry in prayer, often repeated during his all-night intercessions.)

Pray! Discover the Power of Talking to God

Pray! It’s one of the simplest commands in the Bible, yet one of the most powerful. To pray is to step into the presence of God, to open your heart, to seek His will, and to align your life with His purpose. Whether you’re facing uncertainty, giving thanks, or interceding for others, the call to pray is a divine invitation to connect with the Creator of the universe.

The Bible is filled with encouragements to pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges believers to “pray without ceasing,” reminding us that prayer is not just a ritual but a way of life. In Philippians 4:6, we read, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” These verses reveal the heart of prayer—it is both our comfort and our strength.

When you pray, you are not just speaking into the air. According to James 5:16, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” God hears and responds. In times of joy and sorrow, victory and defeat, prayer anchors the soul.

Jesus Himself demonstrated a life of prayer. In Luke 5:16, it says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” If the Son of God made time to pray, how much more should we? Through prayer, Jesus found clarity, strength, and communion with the Father—and so can we.

At Serve India Ministries, we believe that prayer is not optional—it is essential. Our teams pray daily for the communities we serve, for transformation in South Asia, and for every supporter and friend who stands with us. We invite you to pray with us. Pray for the spread of hope, the empowerment of leaders, and the healing of broken places.

Pray! Because God listens. Pray! Because lives are transformed. Pray! Because you are part of something eternal.

As Jeremiah 33:3 promises, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
